Ministries
East Union is active in church life and community service. Below are a few of our outreach and nurturing ministries.
Congregational Life
East Union cares for one another and values spending time in fellowship together.
East Union Care Groups
Care Groups build supportive relationships that enable us to cultivate kindness, acceptance, and empathy. Care groups are designed to be small, intergenerational, and flexible. Each fall, you can choose to join a Care Group.
Mennonite Women
“Mennonite Women” is a group that connects through friendship, fellowship, mission projects, and service. All women are invited to meet on the first Tuesday of each month from 9 am to 3 pm in the East Union fellowship hall to fellowship together, knot comforters, and hand-quilt quilts. We have a short business meeting and devotional time before eating lunch together.
Midweek Church Activities
Church Happenings on Wednesday (CHOW) is an all-church/family night typically held on the first Wednesday of the month during the school year. A light supper is served, followed by activities for all ages, including childcare for young children. Donations are appreciated to help offset the cost of the meal.
Midweek Potluck is typically held on the third Wednesday of the month during the school year. Bring your table service and a dish to share while enjoying a time of church fellowship. Childcare is not provided.
Spiritual Formation
East Union invests in the spiritual growth and formation of all ages, promoting growth in the knowledge, faith, wisdom, and love of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jr MYF
Junior Mennonite Youth Fellowship for 6th-8th graders generally meets twice a month in addition to weekly Sunday School. Gatherings often include youth and adult leaders from other area Mennonite churches. Guided by adult sponsors, the purpose is spiritual formation, fellowship, service projects, and fun!
Mennonite Youth Fellowship (MYF)
Mennonite Youth Fellowship (MYF) for 9th-12th graders generally meets twice a month for activities in addition to weekly Sunday School. MYF attends the bi-annual national Mennonite Youth Convention to experience the wider Mennonite Church in worship, service, and conversation.
Sunday School
Sunday School takes place after the Sunday morning service. Individual Sunday School groups, typically by age, gather in classrooms during the school year. During the summer, everyone is invited after church for intergenerational activities.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Vacation Bible School offers a concentrated time of Bible teaching to area youth 4 years old through 6th grade. Children from the community are invited to participate.
Venture Clubs
Boys Venture Club and Girls Venture Club are for 3rd-5th graders. Typically, the groups meet once a month with youth and adult leaders from other area Mennonite churches. These clubs provide a supportive setting during formative years, where youth can experience Christian mentoring and foster spiritual and social development through fun and fellowship.
Youth Advocate Program
Youth/Advocate Program pairs children beginning 6th grade with an adult mentor from East Union. This mentor/mentee pairing remains throughout the youth’s high school years to help him or her transition from child to adult. It provides another Christian adult besides parents/grandparents to walk with the youth through adolescence. There are some group activities planned, and the individuals involved may plan other activities together.
Community Outreach
East Union supports organizations in the surrounding community and across continents.
Broader Church
East Union supports and partners with other churches and faith-based organizations both within and outside of the Mennonite faith.
