Church Historian

I. PURPOSE

Preserve for posterity significant materials and written records of church life.

II. DUTIES

A. Document and preserve records of:

  1. Family histories including births, adoptions, marriages, deaths, etc.

2. Membership:

i. Confession of Faith.
ii. Transfers.
iii. Baptisms.
iv. Terminations.

3. Special meetings:

    i. Spiritual Emphasis.
ii. Seminars/Workshops.
iii. Meetings concerning congregational life.

4. Church Council Proceedings.

5. Special congregational studies.

6. Church Bulletin and newsletter, etc.

7. Sunday School.

8. Church Directory.

B. Keep record of other significant historical events and changes in the church.

C. Ask committees to furnish records of historical significance.

D. Place duplicate records of the church in the Mennonite Historical Museum in Kalona for preservation.

E. Submit report for Annual Business Meeting.

III. ORGANIZATION

A. Accountable to: Church Council

B. Membership – One person selected by Gift Discernment for a three year term.
